Ramstein AB, Germany – The 86th Force Support Squadron held its annual Fourth of July celebration “Freedom Fest”, Tuesday, 3 July and Wednesday 4 July, with crowds exceeding 21,000, with Airmen, family members, civilians, and local national guests from all over Germany attending. Unlike previous years, Freedom Fest 2018 consisted of not one, but two days of activities and celebrations that included carnival rides, food booths, free bowling, games, and concerts throughout the two days.
On 3 July, we kicked off the Fourth of July holiday with a Key Spouse Bowling Social, carnival attractions, the ever popular t-shirt gun, and two unbelievable performances by the Willy Pete Band, and Armed Forced Entertainment’s Rodney Atkins; that’s right, award winning country singer RODNEY ATKINS! It was a packed crowd that seemed to only get bigger as the night rolled on.
The fun was still going strong the next morning, Independence Day, as staff and volunteers prepared the days celebration for when the gates opened at 1200. Patrons enjoyed carnival rides, games, free bowling, and a variety of food from the many (34) food booths courtesy from our Private Organizations that generated more than $65,000 in sales over the 2-day event.
The excitement didn’t stop there – the 86th Force Support Squadron kept the kids entertained with a piñata and gave all those who attended an opportunity to win exciting prizes through Operation Red, White & Blue. The promotion was for those who dressed in patriotic fashion had the chance to win fabulous prizes from an ODR excursion, a RTT Travel day trip or FSS gift cards! In addition, 86FSS proudly unveiled a 2018 BMW 320i that one lucky winner from the KMC community will win in our #feelthedrivingforce promotion.

Freedom Fest is an event the entire 86 FSS works long tireless hours for in order to host an unforgettable event; each year better than the last. And of course, what would a 4th of July celebration be without an outstanding fireworks display?
