Kitchen Lithography

18 November 2021 @ 16:00 - 18:00

Join Ramstein Arts & Crafts Center as they discover the strange and wonderful world of Kitchen Lithography! They will be hosting a Kitchen Lithography class on 18 November at 1600, $35 per person, for ages 12+, located at the Arts & Crafts Center Craft Room, Bldg 2113.
Transform a drawing into a black and white print using a variety of materials from your kitchen. Lithography is a form of printmaking traditionally done on limestone using the property that oil and water don’t mix. In this simplified “kitchen” version, participants will draw with oil-based materials onto aluminum foil and then drop it into a bath of coca-cola. After soaking in the cola, the foil plate is ready for printing. When dampened with water, the printing ink will stick only to the drawn areas on the plate. Then, using a wooden spoon and some elbow grease, the image can be pressed onto paper to create an edition of identical prints. No prior knowledge of printmaking is required to create this fascinating kind of artwork!
Make sure to sign-up by 16 November! See you there!
